Life @ BAC
Kimberley Tey Mei Zhern
Twenty-one year old Kimberley Tey Mei Zhern is a Brickfields Asia College student who is currently pursuing University of London Extrenal LLB programme. She explains that a law degree is something that suits her personality, since she ofter participated in debates in schools.
“I decided to pursue this course because it is an internationally recognised degree with an established university, yet it is cost-effective,” she explains.
“I was convinced by BAC’S excellent track-record and their counseling staff took the time to advise me on the various routes available to me,” she adds. “They told me about the scholarships available and the entire structure of legal studies. Bearing in mind I was fresh out of secondary school, that sent the right signals, that I mattered as a student, and that the college was dedicated in ensuring that I achieved my potential.”
The experience has been good for the third year student. “It is very family-orientated. Everyone is very close-knit. The informal nature of how things are conducted at BAC helps me grow. I am free to explore things on my own without the confines of red tape and bureaucracy,” she smiles.
“The frequency of classes increases during the revision period. This is done to ensure better exam results. The lecturers do ensure that classes are interactive and we do tend to form a very close bond with our classmates as we spend so much time together,” Kimberly adds.
She is particularly happy with the staff. “BAC ensures that they employ the best in the industry to teach. The lecturers are often practicing lawyers and thus they bring both theory and practical aspects of law to the classroom. Tutors are dedicated in ensuring that we can keep up with classes and apply what we have learnt to the exam questions.”
“I love the culture here and am extremely close to the lecturers as well as fellow students. Naturally when the college does well in the examinations, and my friends excel, it makes me extremely proud,” she says.
Kimberley is so satisfied with her experience and confident of the lecturers at BAC that she advised her younger sister to study there. Her sister is now pursuing her A-Levels at BAC.
Leithiga K. Mohanachandran
Twenty-one year old Leithiga K.Mohanachandran is currently pursuing the second year of her transfer degree programme and enjoying every minute of it.
“It is the most amazing place to study and I have not for a single moment regretted my decision to study here. The lecturers have been extremely helpful and supportive and the materials provided were more than enough. We learnt a lot in class and had fun at the same time. The one thing that I feel really helped me is the fact that the lecturers are very approachable and they are always ready to assist you when you have any questions,” she says.
“My classmates are very nice and friendly. The unique thing about BAC is that the atmosphere is easy-going in the sense that everyone gets along with everyone else. I liken it to one big diverse family,” adds Leithiga.
Of all the attractions, Leithiga likes the environment the most. “Being in a small college allows for a lot of interaction and it is easier to make friends as well. BAC’s excellent track record in the area of law is one thing that makes me very proud to say that I studied in this college,” she says.
“Also, the college always gives back to the community through scholarships for the deserving as well as donating to various charities. Just recently we had the BAC Charity concert in aid of the Malaysian Federation for the Deaf as well as Multi Mutual Charity Association and we managed to raise RM40,000 for these charities.”
She adds that she would not hesitate to recommend the college to her younger sister or brother. “Simply because I believe that it is the best institution for law in Malaysia and I would only want the best for my sibling,” she smiles.
