PawsRescue.my
For the Love of Animals

Are you an animal lover? Do you look out for strays and pets around you? If animal welfare is something you stand up for, do read on...
Launched in November 2021, PawsRescue.my is one of the many initiatives by UPLIFT (Pertubuhan Bangkit) a collaborative platform launched last year.
This nationwide campaign aims to advocate for the protection of both stray and pet animals. Pawsrescue.my also seeks to put a stop to instances of animal cruelty within society.
Pawsrescue.my works with like-minded groups, shelters, and animal welfare volunteers across Malaysia to advocate for a more compassionate world for stray animals.

When Malaysia was struck by the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, her people struggled. As steps were taken to curb the spread of the virus, the economy plummeted in response. Everyone, from major businesses to everyday individuals were affected- some more than others.
As the pandemic went on, donations to animal shelters dropped as people struggled financially. An equally worrying trend emerged as the pandemic continued-a rise in stray animal numbers as financial constraints forced many to give up their beloved pets.
Animal shelters attempted to help as many strays as they could- but with scarce funds, a food supply shortage, and a drastic dip in volunteers, it became painfully clear that more help was needed. And this is where Pawsrescue.my steps in.
Pawsrescue.my has committed to raising fund and spreading awareness on the care and protection of pets and strays.
One of its very first efforts was to organise a talk ‘From Lost to Loved”, via Zoom with reputed members of Malaysia’s animal rescue community such as
Jacqueline Vincent (SPCA Kajang),
Wani Muthiah (Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better) and
Mukunnan Sukumaran (Malaysian Animal Welfare Association).
Held on 28th November 2021, the panel discussed the status and legal protections in place for canine and feline strays in Malaysia, and how animal lovers and society alike can play a role in protecting them
To help keep animal shelters afloat, PawsRescue.my has also initiated several fundraising campaigns. One of these includes collaborations with vendors, where a percentage of funds from product sales will be donated to shelters in need.
PawsRecue also organised a charity virtual run- ‘Runnin’ for Rescue’ 5km Virtual Run, which ran from the 11th-25th December 2021. Collaborating with Monsterfit.asia, 100% of the proceeds from the run were donated to SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Kajang.

As PawsRecue.my continues advocating for animal welfare, its ongoing campaign ‘Help Our Furry Friends’ aims to raise RM10,000 in support of SPCA Kajang.
Having operated as a shelter and rescue center for strays over the past decade, SPCA Kajang now need help to continue feeding stray dogs in and around Bangar Sg. Long.
