BAC Internal Moot Championship (IMC) 2026 Where Advocacy Meets Excellence

Every compelling advocate begins with a single submission, a single argument, and the courage to stand before the Bench. The BAC Internal Moot Championship (IMC) 2026 brought together aspiring student advocates over two days, from the 4th to 5th July 2026, for a rigorous showcase of legal arguments, intellectual challenge, and professional growth.

Designed for both novice and intermediate mooters, the championship provided participants with a realistic courtroom experience, allowing them to sharpen their advocacy skills, strengthen their legal reasoning, and experience the demands of competitive mooting with a total of 52 participants registered for IMC 2026

IMC Day 1 – 4th July 2026 – Where preparation met opportunity, and every submission marked the beginning of an advocate’s journey.

The opening day of IMC 2026 marked the beginning of an intense yet rewarding competition, featuring challenges for mooters at Preliminary Rounds 1 and 2, followed by the Quarter-Final Rounds. As the first preliminary round began, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation as teams prepared to present their oral submissions before distinguished panels of judges.

In each preliminary round, a total of ten (10) matchups were conducted except for two (2) ex- parte proceedings where submissions were made without an opposing side. Every round was adjudicated by panels of two judges who carefully assessed each team’s legal analysis, advocacy, courtroom etiquette, and ability to respond confidently to judicial intervention.

Despite the pressure of competition, participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the day. Many first-time mooters rose to the challenge with confidence, demonstrating impressive preparation and composure while embracing the demanding nature of oral advocacy. The competitive spirit was matched by a strong sense of camaraderie, with participants encouraging one another while striving for excellence.

Following the preliminary rounds, the teams with the highest cumulative scores advanced to the Quarter-finals. The announcement was met with excitement before a Drawing of Ballots determined the Appellant and Respondent positions for the next stage of the competition.

The Quarter-final rounds commenced where the remaining eight teams competed for a coveted place in the Semi-Finals. Adjudicated by panels of two to three judges, these rounds challenged participants to refine their submissions further through rigorous questioning and thoughtful judicial observations.

As the day’s proceedings concluded, the four Semi-finalists were announced, followed by another drawing of ballots to determine the Semi-final matchups. It was a fitting end to a day defined by determination, resilience, and exceptional advocacy.

IMC Day 2 – 5 July 2026 – The stakes were higher, the arguments stronger, and the champions were ready to make their mark.
