BEYOND THE WALLS: A DAY OF COMPASSION, HOPE & NEW PERSPECTIVES

28 August 2026 | Kajang Prison for Women (Penjara Perempuan Kajang

On 28 August 2026, members of the BAC Women’s Law and Rights Club (WLRC) had the privilege of visiting Kajang Prison for Women (Penjara Perempuan Kajang) for a meaningful and insightful learning experience.

The visit began with a briefing by the officers in charge of the prison’s facilities, rehabilitation programs and correctional initiatives. Our students gained a deeper understanding of the various measures taken to support inmates throughout their rehabilitation journey, particularly in promoting their physical, emotional and mental well-being, while fostering discipline, responsibility and a positive behavior.

The officers also shared about the daily training and structured activities that inmates are required to participate in as part of their rehabilitation. These programs are designed not only to support their well-being but also to equip them with practical skills and greater confidence as they prepare to return to society.

One of the highlights was learning about the vocational and skills-based programs available to the inmates, including weaving and other forms of craftsmanship which provide inmates with opportunities to develop useful skills and earn an income through the products they create and sell. The earnings are kept for the inmates and released to them upon their release, providing them with financial support as they begin the next chapter of their lives.

The participants also took part in a guided excursion around the prison, including a visit to the exhibition area and an introduction to the external facilities and history of the institution. Participants were also given the opportunity to purchase products made by

the inmates, allowing them to support the inmates’ skills, efforts and entrepreneurial initiatives.

As part of the visit, BAC WLRC also contributed basic toiletries and clothing for the inmates. These items were generously donated by the staff of BAC Education and members of the WLRC Committee. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to this meaningful gesture of care and support.

The visit was an enriching experience that provided our students with valuable perspectives on rehabilitation, personal development and reintegration into society. More importantly, it highlighted the importance of providing individuals with opportunities, support and the confidence to work towards a more positive future.

BAC Management would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to the officers and staff of Kajang Prison for Women for their warm welcome and for sharing their knowledge and experiences with our students.

A special thank you and well done to the WLRC Committee for organizing this meaningful initiative. We look forward to seeing more impactful programs and community initiatives from WLRC in the future, continuing to inspire our students to learn, serve and make a positive difference in the community. Looking forward to seeing and supporting more wonderful initiatives like this in the future, as WLRC continues to create opportunities to give back, spread kindness and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Here’s to more meaningful journeys, more lives touched, and more hope for a brighter future. The best is yet to come, WLRC!
