A Drop of Kindness:
Inside the BAC Blood Donation Drive

The BAC Education Group recently hosted a Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSICCI). Held at BACPAC, the event ran from 10am to 4pm and saw students, staff and members of the public stepping forward to give the gift of life.
Staff and students from across the BAC Education Group rallied together for this meaningful cause, creating a strong sense of unity and compassion within the campus community. Many participants were first-time donors who were eager to do their part for those in need.
For most, the experience was surprisingly smooth and efficient, taking less than an hour from start to finish.
The process began with a friendly nurse guiding each donor through a simple registration form. Donors were asked a few essential health questions such as whether they had consumed alcohol or smoked within the past 24 hours, had a relative with hepatitis, and if they had a good night’s sleep. These questions ensured that every donor met the eligibility criteria to safely give blood.
Once the form was completed, a nurse pricked the donor’s finger to take a small blood sample, a quick test to determine haemoglobin levels and blood type. Donors were then guided to their donation beds, where the process officially began.
The donation itself took about 15 minutes, during which approximately 450ml of blood was collected. Throughout, the nurses were attentive, ensuring every donor felt comfortable and well-hydrated. Afterward, a small bandage was applied, and donors were encouraged to rest and enjoy light refreshments, a simple yet meaningful token of appreciation for their life-saving contribution.
Reflecting on the experience, Nevash Nithi from the Content Team shared, “As a 2nd time donor this, I’m happy my blood will be used for someone in need of it.”
Law student Sherwina Sharoun Mal Vijayan, from the Foundation in Law (June 2025 intake), added, “I'm really blessed to be able to contribute in this campaign. Thanks BAC for giving me this opportunity.”
The event also highlighted the importance of preparation and aftercare. Donors were advised to drink plenty of fluids, avoid strenuous activity for at least six hours and rest if feeling light-headed.
More than just a medical procedure, the drive served as a reminder that a simple act of kindness can save lives. Every drop counts, and through community efforts like this, the spirit of compassion continues to thrive at BAC.
The drive successfully collected 50 bags of blood in total. Since one bag can save up to three lives, together BAC helped save 150 lives. Thank you to everyone who took part, your contribution truly made a difference.
