A Glimpse into Legal Excellence:
A Visit to Tan Norizan & Associates

On 24th June 2025, ALSA BAC hosted another successful edition of its Legis Niche Panel Series titled "From Contract to Keys: Mastering the Art and Law of Conveyancing", featuring an insightful visit to Tan Norizan & Associates.
During this immersive experience, students had the opportunity to step into the heart of legal practice. The visit began with an engaging sharing session led by Ms. Hidaya Ayob, External Relations Executive, and Mr. Bylian, a distinguished partner at the firm. Attendees gained valuable insights into the firm’s rich legacy, diverse practice areas, community initiatives, and its strong culture of giving back.
One standout moment? Discovering that Tan Norizan & Associates operates with an impressive team of 90 lawyers and 125 support staff, all working under one roof to deliver legal excellence.
This visit not only deepened students' understanding of conveyancing but also inspired many to explore the dynamic world of legal practice beyond the classroom. A panel discussion took place next with Mr. Tee John Son, Deputy Director of the Academic Activities Department, skilfully moderating the discussion. The panel featured Miss Jesslyn Foong Yung Hui, a property law expert and firm partner, alongside Ms. Norhafizah Binti Mohd Yusop, a dynamic speaker and certified partner with the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents. The discussion flowed smoothly, leaving the students engaged and inspired.
The Q&A session gave students the chance to delve deeper into the panel’s insights. Intelligent questions were posed by both the committee and the audience, further enriching the session. The energy remained high as Mr. Khoo Boon Han, the firm’s Managing Partner, stepped in for a power-packed talk on "Developing a Rainmaker Mindset and Skillset Before You Even Start Practicing Law." His valuable insights on business development and personal branding vibrated deeply with aspiring legal minds.
As a gesture of gratitude, a token of appreciation was presented by Henrick Yong Jin Hern (Vice Treasurer) and Tee John to Mr. Khoo marking a meaningful end to the formal session,, followed by the much-anticipated firm tour began led by Hayley, a pupil at the firm, and Ms. Hidaya Ayob, to various departments. The firm’s dynamic operations, with leaders enthusiastically explaining the functions and roles of each division could be seen throughout the tour.
Adding a personal touch to the visit, was Mr. Bylian who invited a selected group of participants into his office for a mini-sharing session, providing intimate insights into his legal journey, overseen by Tee John Son ensuring that it went on smoothly.
