Law

This module will help you appreciate law in real-world situations through an understanding of the main principles of the law of England and Wales. You will develop analytic and problem-solving skills and learn to communicate legal arguments. You will study the structure and operation of the English legal system, and law of contract and tort (2020-2022 exams). You will also learn the English legal system, criminal law, and law of contract and tort (2023-2025 exams). This syllabus gives you an excellent foundation for further study of Law in higher education and/or a career within the field.

Business

This module will help you understand and appreciate the nature and scope of business, and the role it plays in society. It encourages you to examine the process of decision-making in a dynamic and changing business environment and to develop critical understanding of business organisations. You will learn about business and its environment, human resource management, marketing, operations management, and finance and accounting.

Economics

This module will introduce you to economic concepts and theories through a critical consideration of current economic issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life. You will learn about a range of fundamental economic ideas, including the price system and government intervention, international trade and exchange rates, market failure, the theory of the firm, the measurement of employment and inflation, and the causes and consequences of inflation. You will also study the theory of the firm, market failure, macroeconomic theory and policy, and economic growth and development.

Accounting

In this module, you will understand the relevance and applicability of accounting in real-world contexts. You will explore the role and responsibilities of the accountant, and study areas such as financial accounting and cost, and management accounting. Studying this module will help you to understand, apply, analyse and evaluate accounting information to help decision-making in business and communicate information to stakeholders. These transferable skills are an ideal foundation for further study and a career within accounting or related professions. This module is only available for January & April intakes. Lectures will commence in the month of April for both January & April intakes.

Mathematics

In this module, you will learn to work with mathematical information, as well as the ability to think logically and independently, consider accuracy, model situations mathematically, analyse results and reflect on findings. You will learn how to extend your range of mathematical skills and techniques and use them in more difficult, unstructured problems. This module is only available for January & April intakes. Lectures will commence in the month of April for both January & April intakes.

Literature in English

This module will help you develop a deep understanding of the subject and enable you to analyse a variety of complex texts in forms and style. In addition, it will give you a deeper understanding of the English language and its subtle nuances, which will help you to convey your views and opinions with confidence. Besides verbal confidence, you will learn to write clear, well-structured essays on topics generated during text discussions with well-substantiated arguments and evidence supported from texts and other reputable external sources. This module is only available for January & April intakes. Lectures will commence in the month of April for both January & April intakes.
