A Warm Welcome to the New Term

The BAC Law Society launched the 2025/2026 academic term on a high note with its Welcome Mixer held on 27 November 2025 at BACPAC, Brickfields Asia College.

Filled with energy, laughter, and meaningful connections, the event marked the society’s first major gathering of the term and brought together approximately 40 participants, including first-year law students, returning members, and Law Society committee representatives. The result was a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the year ahead.

The afternoon began with registration as students arrived with enthusiasm and curiosity, eager to meet new peers and gain insight into the Law Society. The event then officially commenced with opening remarks that established a warm and inclusive tone, introducing attendees to the Society’s vision, its various departments, and the many opportunities available for involvement throughout the academic year.

The hall soon came alive with laughter and excitement as the games session got underway. A crowd favourite, Snatch the Chicken, put participants’ reflexes and legal knowledge to the test, as students raced forward to grab the chicken after answering questions correctly. Cheers, friendly rivalry, and high spirits kept the energy buzzing throughout the game.

This was followed by the Whisper Challenge, where participants attempted to pass messages along a line while wearing headphones blasting loud music. The inevitable miscommunications led to hilarious outcomes, sparking bursts of laughter and effortlessly breaking the ice among students who had only just met.

The event transitioned into a relaxed networking session towards the afternoon, allowing students to mingle freely, share experiences, and build new friendships. Conversations flowed naturally over refreshments, all of which were fully enjoyed by the end of the event, clear evidence of the high engagement and positive atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

The highlight of the day arrived with the EVENT IT UP! competition, where teams were challenged to conceptualise and pitch an original event idea. Drawing on creativity, teamwork, and the tokens earned from earlier games, each team presented their vision with enthusiasm. The winning pitch stood out for its originality and excitement, a murder mystery, suspect-interrogation-style event. The idea captured the imagination of both attendees and committee members alike, generating buzz and anticipation for its potential realisation in the upcoming semester.

The Welcome Mixer concluded on a high note, leaving participants feeling inspired, connected, and excited for the journey ahead. More than just a social gathering, the event laid a strong foundation for deeper engagement, collaboration, and active participation within the BAC Law Society throughout the academic year.

Looking ahead, the society is already gearing up to bring the much-anticipated Murder Mystery Event to life, alongside a series of social mixers, academic workshops, and skill-building sessions in the months to come. With such a strong start to the term, the year ahead promises to be both engaging and impactful for the BAC Law Society.
