ALSA BAC’s Insightful Visit to MACC

The visit to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on 11th August 2025 marked the fifth instalment of ALSA BAC's Courtroom to Boardroom initiative. This educational visit was designed to provide law students with a well-rounded and practical understanding of Malaysia’s anti-corruption framework. Throughout the one-day programme, participants engaged in a series of structured activities, including a welcoming session, an introductory briefing by MACC officers, and an in-depth overview of the legal mechanisms underpinning anti-corruption efforts, with a particular focus on the MACC Act 2009.

Participants were able to engage in a case study walkthrough of notable investigations to better understand the process of building a corruption case from legal and procedural perspectives. The visit also included a guided tour of selected MACC facilities, allowing students to observe the operational environment of the Commission.

This interactive and engaging visit with legal and investigative officers was designed to provide students with valuable insights into potential career paths, the challenges of law enforcement, and key ethical considerations in the fight against corruption. To complement the experience, a dedicated briefing on governance, integrity, and the vital role of youth in promoting transparency was also conducted.
