Seng Yong (Andrew) Poh never imagined that a side project during his law studies would one day become an award-winning global business. A proud BAC alumnus, Andrew’s journey is proof that passion, creativity, and resilience can take you far beyond the classroom.

Andrew began his legal education at Brickfields Asia College (BAC) before completing his LLB at the University of Liverpool via BAC's UK Transfer Programme. Later, while pursuing his Bar Professional Training Course in Manchester, Andrew noticed a gap in his daily routine - eating healthily was a challenge, especially with a busy student lifestyle.

That’s when inspiration struck. Combining his entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to solve real problems, Andrew created HiBlendr, a portable blender designed to fit modern, fast-paced lives. What started in a university dorm room quickly grew into a brand now sold across Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and China.

HiBlendr’s flagship product, the Juice Cup Pro, has become a favourite worldwide - even earning the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2025, joining the ranks of global giants like Lenovo, Pepsi, and LG.

Beyond HiBlendr, Poh has also co-founded 50gram Wedding, Malaysia’s first one-stop wedding planning tool, further showcasing his entrepreneurial flair and ability to turn ideas into impactful ventures.

Despite his entrepreneurial success, Andrew remains grounded in his legal roots. He has also practised law as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and trained as a Pupil-in-Chambers at Zaid Ibrahim & Co, the largest law firm in Malaysia, in addition to running HiBlendr.

Today, he runs his own business and is a legal associate at Christopher Yeo & KP Chang, proving that it’s possible to balance both professional law practice and innovative business leadership.

Reflecting on Andrew’s achievements, Mr. Raja Singham, Managing Director & Chief Future Officer of BAC Education, said;

“Andrew’s journey perfectly illustrates the versatility of a law degree. At BAC, we believe in nurturing polymaths — individuals who can adapt, innovate, and lead across disciplines. I am immensely proud of Andrew, who has shown that the analytical skills, problem-solving skills, discipline, and resilience developed through reading law can empower our graduates to excel not only in the courtroom but also in business and beyond.”

His story is an inspiring reminder to all BAC students and alumni: your degree is just the beginning, and the skills you gain here can empower you to build impactful ventures that reach far beyond expectations.
