BAC Chinese Debate Club Crowned Champions at Houxuebei 7.0
Brickfields Asia College (BAC) has once again proven its debating excellence, as the BAC Chinese Debate Club emerged as the champions of the prestigious Houxuebei 7.0 Tournament, held online from August 30th to September 7th, 2025.
BAC's Chinese Debate Club has been racking up the accolades lately and this massive victory is yet another milestone in the team’s growing legacy of success. They have yet again showcased their skill, discipline, and teamwork that have come to define BAC’s debating culture.
Competing against some of the most talented university teams, the BAC Chinese Debate Club demonstrated not only intellectual rigour but also creativity and composure under pressure.
The competition featured rounds that tested participants on their ability to argue complex and abstract motions, such as “Value-based or policy-based motions are better debate entry points” and “In different debate stages, repeating the same motion or changing to a new one better promotes debater growth.”
The most important thing is argumentative consistency and the team displayed that consistency consistently (pun intend), excellence across every stage of the tournament, securing victories through incredibly sharp reasoning and delivery.

Their journey through the rounds was nothing short of impressive:
- Preliminary Round 1: Win (3–0) | Best Debater: Hew Wei Yee
- Preliminary Round 2: Win (3–0) | Best Debater: Hew Wei Yee
- Round of 12: Win (3–0) | Best Debater: Lo Xiang Yi
- Quarterfinals (Match 1): Win (2–1)
- Quarterfinals (Match 2): Win (2–1) | Best Debater: Amanda Kah
- Final: Win (2–1) | Best Debater: Amanda Kah
In addition to clinching the championship, three BAC debaters — Hew Wei Yee, Lo Xiang Yi, and Amanda Kah — were recogniszed among the Top 10 Debaters of the tournament.
With their success, the team must have undoubtedly shared their heartfelt gratitude to their coaches for their unwavering guidance, their fellow teammates for steadfast support, and the universities that participated and sparred with them throughout the competition.
The Houxuebei 7.0 title is yet another badge of victory for the BAC Chinese Debate Club’s. Their perseverance and team spirit continues to grow and with this achievement, they will 100% continue to inspire a new generation of debaters to think critically and speak confidently with purpose.
