BAC Chinese Debate Team at
Nan Ying Cup 2025

The BAC Chinese Debate team proudly represented the college at the Nan Ying Cup Tournament 2025, a prestigious competition that brought together some of the sharpest university debaters from across the region. For Team BAC team, this was a journey of discovery, resilience and continuous improvement.

A Promising Start

Stepping into Round 1, the team faced UTAR (Kampar on the motion: Are diverse perspectives or unified perspectives more suitable for governing modern economies. Arguing as the proposition, our debaters delivered structured, well-researched arguments rooted in economic theory. Although the round ended in a 0–3 outcome, it became a powerful starting point for growth. The team walked away with clearer insight into the judging expectations and the competitive landscape.

Finding Their Footing

Round 2 brought a new challenge, this time against Monash University, with BAC on the Opposition bench. The motion remained unchanged, but the strategy did not. Armed with stronger rebuttals and sharper analysis, the team put up a fight that resulted in a close 2–1 decision. While the result was still a loss, the narrow margin highlighted significant improvement and reflected the team’s growing confidence and adaptability.

A Journey Beyond the Scoreboard

In a group consisting of three teams with only the top team advancing, the pressure was high. Although BAC did not progress to the next stage, the tournament became an invaluable learning experience. Throughout the journey, the team displayed thorough preparation, strong teamwork, unwavering resilience and a commitment to constant improvement, our debaters gained not just skills, but a deeper understanding of the challenges, rhythm and rewards of competitive debate.”

Looking Ahead

Every competition shapes a debater, and the Nan Ying Cup 2025 was no exception. The insights gained, the feedback received and the bonds strengthened will propel the BAC Debate Team forward as they prepare for future tournaments.
