Course Entry Requirements
- Matriculation/Foundation studies with minimum CGPA 2.0 or its equivalent or,
- STPM - Grade C in any 2 subjects or its equivalent, or
- SPM - Credit in Mathematics is a MUST
- MUET - minimum Band 4, or IELTS score of 5.5
- Diploma in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Technology/Information Systems or its equivalent, or
- Any other Diploma in Science & Technology/Business Studies - minimum CGPA of 2.5 (subject to a rigorous internal assessment process), or
- Any equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.

Examination Structure
The Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) ODL programme follows a structured assessment approach, combining continuous assessments and final evaluations. Depending on the module, the assessment format may consist of 100% continuous assessment or a combination of continuous assessment and final assessments, such as 50:50, 60:40, or 70:30.
Continuous assessments include quizzes, written tests, practical tests, individual or group assignments, and projects. Final assessments may involve final examinations, reports, and presentations. The final examination is conducted online, with moderated questions published in the LMS. Students take the exam as scheduled, with sessions monitored by appointed invigilators and examination unit representatives to ensure a fair and structured evaluation process.
Recommended Subject Combinations
The Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) ODL programme follows the Computing Program Standard, allowing multiple entry pathways. Applicants qualify through STPM (Grade C in two subjects), STAM (Jayyid grade), or Matriculation/Foundation (CGPA 2.00). Diploma holders in computing and non-computing fields may also apply, with additional assessments for lower CGPAs.
Mathematics proficiency is required, either through an SPM credit or an equivalent qualification. Students without this requirement must complete a reinforcement Mathematics subject before or during the first semester. The programme also accepts DKM, DVM, and DLKM diplomas in computing fields, subject to approval.
International students must meet an English requirement of MUET Band 3.5 or CEFR (High B1). These criteria ensure students are academically prepared while offering flexible admission options.
Exemption and Progression
Students with prior qualifications may apply for exemptions based on VUC’s Credit Transfer or Exemption Policy. Approval is granted on a case-by-case basis, requiring certified documents, including transcripts and module outlines. Exemptions do not carry credits, so students must take replacement modules if needed to meet graduation requirements.
