BAC’s Chinese Debate Club Triumphs at Sunway University Tournament

This March saw BAC’s Chinese Debate Club take the stage for the highly anticipated final of the Sunway University Mandarin Debate Tournament. The topic? A thrilling discussion on whether “This world is a comedy or a tragedy.” Facing off against the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), BAC’s debaters were ready to make their mark—and they certainly did!
From the very first exchange, it was clear that BAC’s team was in command. Every argument was delivered with precision, every rebuttal was met with unshakable confidence, and every word carried the weight of their unwavering preparation. The opposition put up a strong fight, but BAC’s Chinese Debate Club's eloquence and sharp reasoning left no room for doubt. The final score? A flawless 15-0 victory for BAC, securing an undeniable triumph.
Individual Excellence Shines
But the accolades didn’t stop there. BAC’s own Hew Wei Yee was named Best Debater of the Final Match, a very deserved accolade to their outstanding performance and ability to think critically under pressure. Keeping up with BAC's clean slate victory, Toh Li Na took home the prestigious title of Best Debater of the Tournament, signifying that BAC’s Chinese Debate Club is not only here to stay, but are here to stay as a powerhouse in the Mandarin debate scene.

This momentous achievement would not have been possible without the relentless dedication and hard work of every team member. Of course, behind every great team stands an inspiring mentor, and BAC’s Chinese Debate Club extends its heartfelt gratitude to their coach, Mr. Lock Jun Qi, whose guidance and expertise played an instrumental role in their victory.
