Bridging Ideas and Expertise:
A Joint Colloquium by Veritas and UNIMY

On Sunday, 15th of June 2025, Veritas University College (VUC) and UNIMY successfully held their first joint postgraduate colloquium. The event was attended by VUC's Professor Dr. Amer Hamzah (Deputy Vice Chancellor) Assistant Professor Dr. Raymond Markus Maskrin (Head, School of Business, Communication, Law and Digital Transformation), Dr. Anahita Ghanad (Head of Programme for M.Ed and PhD, School of Education), UNIMY's Associate Professor Dr. Norizah Muhammad (Head, Centre of Postgraduate Studies), faculty members and students from both institutions.
The purpose of the colloquium was to give Postgraduate students a platform to showcase their research initiatives and help them enhance their presentation and communication skills when it comes to delivering research work verbally to a live audience.
At the same time, the question-and-answer (Q & A) session immediately after each presentation facilitated thought provoking discussions and enabled the thirteen speakers, Ms Ella Chew, Ms Sally Chong, Ms Siti Nuriyah, Ms Annesha Francis, Ms Prema Kesavan, Ms Farah Shahirah bt Saipuddin, Ms Sireesha Prathigadapa, Ms Zanurul Zainudin, Ms Melissa Yeoh, Mr Ho Koh Ming, Mr Darlington Ossai, Ms Aminath Risaala and Mr Ho Kok Weng to get constructive feedback on the papers they presented. The event also provided networking opportunities for these postgraduate students since many came from diverse professional backgrounds.
Those who attended were amazed by the quality of the delivery and breadth of research by the speakers and hoped for more similar events in the near future.
The next colloquium will be held later this year and is expected to draw an even bigger crowd comprising Postgraduate students, members of the Veritas School of Business, Communication, Law and Digital Transformation, Veritas School of Education and Social Sciences, UNIMY Centre of Postgraduate Studies as well as senior members of the BAC management team.
It is hoped that the event will go a long way in helping VUC and UNIMY position themselves as the preferred choice for postgraduate studies with their dynamic combination of open and distance learning (ODL), blended learning and conventional learning with the inclusion of highly sought after industry relevant micro-credentials from world class universities as well as IR 4.0 and digitalization courses.
