CEO@UNIMY Faculty Gathering

The Bridge Between Academia and Innovative Industries

In October, we saw University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (UNIMY) host a remarkable edition of CEO@UNIMY Faculty. A gathering for leadership, collaboration, and forward-thinking dialogue between higher academia and industry.

One of the major highlights of the gathering was the brilliant panel discussion about "Cybersecurity and AI Convergence", moderated by our very own Mr. Thillai Raj, CTO of the BAC Education Group.

Featuring three famous industry experts - Christi Paul, Krishna Rajagopal, and Ts. Wan Roshaimi Wan Abdullah - each of whom brought a unique perspective from the forefront of the digital and cybersecurity landscape.

Together, they unpacked one of the most pressing conversations of our time: how the rapid convergence of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity is reshaping industries and redefining the skills that future professionals must master.

The Core Message

Change is happening fast, and the ultimate customer is the industry itself. As technology evolves, so must education. The panel emphasised that universities and industry players must work hand in hand to ensure that graduates are equipped not just with theoretical knowledge, but with the practical, multidisciplinary expertise that today’s workforce demands.

Innovation doesn't exist in their own silos anymore, everyone needs to understand the trifecta of law, technology, and business. This was a big part of the discussion. Not only that though, because important topics like Artificial Narrow Intelligence (AI systems designed to perform single, specialized tasks) to the emergence of Agentic AI, where systems can act with autonomy and adaptability were tackled head-on.

A Day of Milestones

This was all exciting because Mr. Raja Singham, Chief Future Officer and Managing Director of the BAC Education Group had delivered a riveting opening speech about the importance of nurturing industry-ready talent through collaboration and innovation.

This was followed by a motivating speech from UNIMY’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Salwani, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to shaping the next generation of digital leaders.

Adding to the excitement, Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Vik officially launched UNIMY’s brand-new monthly newsletter, “Tech Bytes”, a platform dedicated to sharing the latest updates, innovations, and thought leadership from across the university community.

To top it all off, the day also marked the MOU exchange between the BAC Education Group and the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management (MIHRM). A strategic move to strengthen the growing cooperation between academia and professional industries.

Looking Ahead

This event was a catalyst for action! It was a reminder that the future of education lies in strong institutional partnerships and a shared purpose. By bringing together leaders of industries and academia, UNIMY continues to ensure that its students are not only prepared for the workforce but are ready to shape the digital future.
