What happens when medical judgment is challenged in the courtroom? Code Blue in Court: Medical Negligence Explained gave law students a compelling introduction to the realities of medical negligence litigation. Through the insights of experienced practitioners, students gained exposure to real cases, practical considerations, and candid perspectives drawn directly from courtroom experience.
Organised by the BAC Law Society, the event marked its first programme of 2026, and was held on 8 January 2026 at BACPAC. The session brought together enthusiastic law students keen to deepen their understanding of one of the most demanding and influential areas of legal practice.
The session provided a rare opportunity for students to move beyond textbooks and gain real-world insight into how medical negligence cases are handled within the Malaysian legal system. With the expertise from Mah Weng Kwai & Associates (MWKA), the talk shed light on the realities of litigation, from establishing duty of care to navigating the challenges of causation and expert evidence.
The speakers, Lim Jie Sheng, Jason and Joyce Wong Ik Ling, shared their experiences with clarity and depth, making intricate legal concepts accessible and engaging. Their openness encouraged active participation and students responded with thoughtful questions that sparked meaningful discussion throughout the panel session.
Beyond the formal discussions, the networking and photo session allowed students to connect directly with practitioners, creating a welcoming space for learning, curiosity and professional inspiration. The strong turnout and sustained engagement reflected the relevance of the topic and the value students placed on practical exposure to legal practice.
