COURSE MODULES
Year 1
Computer Graphics
You will be introduced to the most basic design software used today and taught to handle simple and basic computer design functions and applications.
Communication English 102
The subject aims to help you express your opinions and views in English and to further improve reading comprehension as well as write academic essays confidently.
Communication English 103
The subject aims to help you express your opinions and views in English and to further improve reading comprehension as well as write academic essays confidently.
Creative Thinking
This module invites you to change your creative mindset by helping you to understand creativity, what it takes to be creative and how to be a creative thinker. Besides developing your creative thinking, it also helps to hone your analytical skills.
Film Fundamentals
This module focuses on how to be critical when watching a film and to notice and understand the subtle cues and meanings that are hidden within film aesthetics and cinematography.
Idea Conceptualisation
This module focuses on the cultivation of ideas and problem-solving strategies for the moving image. It combines idea generation, designing, conceptualising, directing, editing and sound, culminating into the final project. It encourages you to think out-of-the-box.
Introduction to Audio Production
This is a comprehensive and concise grounding module, covering all aspects of sound recording and music technology. By the end of the course, you will have completed an original recording project.
Mass Communication
This module encourages you to reflect upon the relationship between mass communication and our society. You are taught to analyse the exterior patterns and covert meanings within media messages.
Photography & Digital Imaging
This module is a basic introduction to photography & digital imaging. You will explore a range of topics, from display design to basic knowledge on how to use a DSLR.
Presentation Skills
This module exposes you to the skills needed for effective presentations. It also encourages critical thinking about audiences and the purposes of presenting.
Video Production
This module introduces you to the procedures and techniques of video production. You will learn the technical practices and creative skills required to produce a video through practical workshops, supervised exercises, screenings and discussions. It has a balanced treatment of pre-production, production, and post-production for single-camera video productions in creative aspects.
Year 2
Advanced Audio Production
This module provides production-oriented, ‘hands on’ practice in operating equipment, which will help in the development of skills required for efficient announcing and news casting. You will be required to write and present radio, TV and audio-visual announcements and assignments.
Advanced Video Production
You will be exposed to the finer points of production, the better use of equipment and employs the right techniques to be used in the professional world.
Motion Graphics
This module explores the nature and attributes of motion and broadcast graphics. You will learn to create, select and manipulate still and motion graphics for broadcast and other media delivery. You will also grasp technical knowledge of the Adobe After Effects software in terms of motion graphics creation and multimedia production.
New Media Studies
You will be taught critical concepts and hands-on skills related to ‘new social media’. We will consider the significant shifts of new media in the reading, viewing and listening experiences while remaining mindful of new media’s connections with the older media.
Production Management
This module explores how production management and coordination are utilised to keep your shoot on-schedule, on-budget and to maintain quality upon completion.
Scriptwriting for TV
You will be introduced to the concepts and techniques employed in writing for television and screenplay. This module also teaches you how to lay-out a script and write in various professional script formats.
Studio Production & Directing
Studio multi-camera production covers a wide range of skills in live broadcasts and TV productions. A good grasp of these skills will provide a foundation for working in specific technical and production roles within the industry. The module introduces advanced technical skills in the use of sound and vision mixers and the essential working practices and conventions of working in a production team.
In-Company Practical Training
You will learn the development of strategies which will extend your learning beyond educational institutions. This module is structured to provide an opportunity for students to critically reflect on the relationship between their academic studies and advertising, marketing and communication practices.
Final Semester
Creative Execution & Production
This module looks at the basic disciplines of creativity in video production for broadcast. You will be exposed to creative thinking in production planning, the creative process and their applications, creative approaches and styles, and art direction in production.
Radio & TV Commercials
This module covers the creative side of broadcast advertising. It is important to understand these advertising concepts in broadcasting as it is one of the most used communication mediums used in digital media to advertise and promote a product or service.
Film Distribution & Marketing
This module will be an entertaining and insightful look into how the movie business operates, concentrating on what drives the marketing of both studio and independent films, and the marketing techniques utilised.
Radio-TV Programming
This module teaches you how to engage in the programming processes. It provides explanations on the operations and strategies used for scheduling and planning for TV and Radio content.
MPU MODULES
Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 1 or Pengajian Malaysia 2
Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 1 teaches international students the basics of the Malay language to help in their daily communication. You will also learn to read, write and understand simple sentences and paragraphs in Malay. Pengajian Malaysia 2 discusses history and politics, the Constitution, administrative systems and structures, community and unity, nation-building and religious beliefs. You will foster a strong sense of national identity and patriotism
Study of Religions
This module aims to develop your understanding of the living religions of the world with major emphasis on fundamental doctrines and beliefs, historical development, institutions, teachings and also practices.
Bahasa Kebangsaan A or Problem Solving and Decision Making
Bahasa Kebangsaan A helps in grasping the national language to effectively communicate, and express thoughts clearly and creatively through verbal and written communication. Problem Solving And Decision Making introduces you to the concepts and strategies in problem solving and decision making with the intention of providing you with the concepts, processes and possible outcomes in problem solving and decision making. Students are expected to apply these concepts and processes to a variety to problems and scenarios within the creative communication industry.
