Course Modules

Year 1

Advance Research Methods (Part 1 & 2)
This module exposes you to research methods in business. It focuses on understanding the philosophy, processes, designs and various research methods such as experimental, surveys and correlational studies. You will also learn the development of instruments and issues relating to reliability and validity, problem identifications, techniques to review relevant academic literature, sampling, ethics involved in research and how to write the research reports. 

Advanced Organisation and Management
This module increases your interest in behavioural research in management. You will gain insights from organisational behaviour in your own research and concentrate on advanced coverage of the state of the science.

Accounting & Finance
This module was designed to give you opportunities to understand the subject matter, theoretical foundations, issues and research frameworks in carrying out studies in finance. You will also earn a microcredential from the University of Pennsylvania.

Advanced Marketing Management
This module addresses marketing and international business strategy formulation, marketing and business planning process and the role of marketing in the organisation. You will evaluate the concept of strategic marketing and international business to development of marketing and business plans as core business functions. 

Organisational Leadership
Through in-depth knowledge of leadership philosophies and exposure to current practice in the corporate world, you will stand out as an authority in business leadership. With this specialised knowledge and skill in leading an organisation, you will be able to inspire and guide others, while developing your leadership capabilities to tackle state, regional and global business issues proactively and strategically.  You will also earn a microcredential from Copenhagen Business School.

Year 2

Advanced Managerial Economics
The aim of this module is to provide an in-depth analysis of business decision-making in an economic global setting. It examines the fundamental questions of economics as they relate to the globalised economy. You will also earn a microcredential from the University of Illnois at Urbana-Champaign.

Organisational Theory and Design
This mosule focuses on organisational theories and research and explains why businesses operate the way they do. Three perspectives of human behaviour are presented and their relevancy to the real world discussed. Key department and organisational level variables and models are studied with the goal of understanding the patterns and relationships amongst organisational dimensions, such as strategy, structure and the environment. You will also earn a microcredential from the University of Illnois at Urbana-Champaign.

Advanced Organisational Behaviour
This module seeks to expose you to the contents, process and context of carrying out scholarly organisational and leadership research and practice. Discussions will start by exploring the overall aspects of leadership traits, skills, and behaviours and the impact these have on business organisations. You will then be introduced to theories used in trying to understand organisational, leadership and other popular areas of research. 

Entrepreneurship
The initial part of this module will help you develop an advanced understanding on the current state of entrepreneurship in the global context. You are also exposed to successful entrepreneurship, opportunity identification and assessment, economic development potential of small businesses in Malaysia, alternative forms of work arrangements in the new economy, balancing an entrepreneurial lifestyle and determining what success means to the new generation of entrepreneurs. 

Year 3

Doctoral Research

In this module, you will plan, research and write up a project that will improve your understanding of a significant managerial, business or organisational issue, and provide appropriate recommendations for action or findings.
