Empowering Women through Entrepreneurship
Massimo's Bread-Making Event

#Hatibaik 2024

Massimo, in partnership with Persatuan Makanan Ehsan (Free Food Society) and BAC Education, recently hosted a transformative event titled #Hatibaik 2024, aimed at empowering women in the B40 community of Desa Rejang. This event, which took place at the Reliance Training Kitchen, was designed to encourage and teach women from this community how to create higher value items using bread as the core ingredient, thus fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

The day was packed with activities geared towards providing valuable knowledge and skills to the participants. The event began at 9:00 am with a warm welcome and opening speech by Puan Fadillah Yakin from FFS, and a representative from Massimo, setting the tone for a day filled with learning and inspiration.

This series of workshops and lectures are designed to help women attendees develop their business skills. Chef Kent of Reliance College then briefed the women on food safety, sanitization, and basic hygiene. Fundamental theories of entrepreneurship were also discussed, providing the ladies with the foundation on the do's and don'ts of starting a business.

The practical experience offered through the session on recipe development, packaging, and pricing strategies was an essential component of the programme. This hands-on experience provided the women with the tools and knowledge needed to successfully develop, package, and sell their bread-based goods, so they may make the most of their newfound knowledge.

Equipping Women for the Future

This programme also equipped these eager women entrepreneurs with skills that will cover marketing and promotion tactics, emphasizing the use of social media platforms to expand their market and boost revenue. The aim of this part of the programme was to maximize the entrepreneurial potential of these women by equipping them with the necessary tools and expertise to effectively market and sell their products.

Finally, after all these useful tips and guides on starting a successful business selling bread-based goods, the attendees got the opportunity to take part in the food presentation, prep, and cooking portion of the event.

The women then showcased their inventive recipes that featured bread as the main ingredient. In addition to testing their abilities, this practical experience gave these brilliant women a stage on which they could showcase their goods to prospective clients.

As the event came to a close, participants had the opportunity to market and upsell their food products, culminating in a prize-giving ceremony to recognize their efforts and achievements throughout the day. This inclusive event, that hosted 20 women from the community alongside representatives from IE Asia and Free Food Society, was made possible by the generous sponsorship from #FFS, #Usahawan, #Massimobread and BAC Education.

This was an impactful experience for all involved as they came together to support and uplift these women in their entrepreneurial journey.
