Healthy Minds Wellness Carnival:
A Celebration of Positivity and Wellbeing

The Healthy Minds Wellness Carnival, held on Thursday, 9th October 2025 at the Omnia Auditorium, Menara BAC, PJ, was a vibrant and uplifting event that brought together students and staff from across the BAC Education Group. Organised by the Student Counselling Unit and the Group Human Empowerment & Development (GHED) Department, the half-day carnival aimed to promote mental wellness, emotional intelligence and community connection in a relaxed and engaging setting.
The event began with a warm welcome speech before diving into the Wellness Talk & Activities segment. The sessions featured a range of interactive and thought-provoking talks led by the Student Counsellors and guest speakers.
Leong Pik Wah, one of BAC's student counsellor, opened the programme with an energising Kickoff Activity that set a positive tone for the day. Nurin Amalia Nooresham, another student counsellor then continued with Bounce Back Online: Building Resilience in the Age of Social Media, addressing the importance of maintaining balance in the digital world. Shahirah Shuaib, also part of the Counselling Team, then took the stage with Grades & Groove: Flow Through Life, Not Just Exam, a reminder to prioritise personal growth alongside academic success.
One of the highlights of the event was a talk - Navigating Your Social World Using Emotional Intelligence by Prof. Dr. Amer Hamzah Jantan, Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor of Veritas University College. His talk resonated deeply with attendees, offering practical insights into managing emotions and fostering meaningful connections. The session concluded with It’s Mental!, a lively quiz conducted by Hayden Chiew, which tested participants’ awareness of mental health topics in a fun and interactive way.
During the mid-morning break, participants were treated to an array of delicious refreshments. Colourful mocktails with creative names like Minty Spring, Berry Pop, Peachy Floral and Lavender Lychee were served alongside an assortment of sandwiches such as Crab Sticks, Black Pepper Chicken and Ham N Cheese. The food and drinks added to the cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, giving attendees the perfect chance to mingle and recharge.
The event wrapped up with closing remarks from Valarmathi (Lara) Selvaraj, Head of the Student Counselling Unit, followed by booth explorations and engaging activities.
Student feedback on the carnival was overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the speakers for their clarity and engaging delivery, particularly on the topic of emotional intelligence.
