IACT College Students Shine at the Global Public Relations Conference and Festival Malaysia 2025
From 13 to 15 November 2025, the Public Relations Practitioners Society of Malaysia (PRactitioners) hosted the inaugural Global Public Relations Conference and Festival at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The three-day event brought together over 500 delegates from across the globe — PR professionals, industry leaders, academics and students — making it one of Malaysia’s most significant communication gatherings to date. The conference also earned a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for the Most Participants in a Global Public Relations Conference, marking a proud moment for the national PR fraternity.
The event was graced by His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan, who delivered the Royal Address. Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin Abdul Rahman, Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, officiated the launch of PRactitioners’ official website and the Public Relations Code of Ethics. Distinguished keynote speakers included YAB Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications of Malaysia, who explored the evolving role of PR in nation-building and global communications.
IACT Students at the Heart of the Conference
IACT College was proud to contribute to the success of this historic event through the involvement of more than 30 of our diploma and degree students. Serving as volunteer protocol crew members, our students worked closely with industry leaders, VIPs, keynote speakers and international delegates — gaining rare behind-the-scenes exposure to the workings of a world-class conference.
Their participation was led by:
- Mr. Timothy Chan, CEO of IACT College and Academic Bureau Chairman of PRactitioners
- Ms. Jacinta Erang, Head, School of Creative Communication
- Ms. Mekalah Chandrasegaran, Programme Coordinator, BA (Hons) Media, Culture & Communication (University of Sunderland)
- Mr. Jeremy Eshwarr, Lecturer, School of Creative Communication
Throughout the conference, our students took on important responsibilities including ushering dignitaries, coordinating session flow, and supporting backstage preparations. Their confidence, professionalism and teamwork earned praise from event organisers and VIPs alike.
Real-World Learning That Goes Beyond the Classroom
In addition to their protocol duties, our students were given access to several Masterclass sessions throughout the festival. These sessions exposed them to global PR trends, best practices and emerging industry insights - enriching their learning far beyond what is taught in a classroom setting.
They also had the opportunity to attend the conference’s gala dinner, where they enjoyed live performances and experienced the networking and celebratory aspects of major industry events.
Proud Moments for IACT
Our students’ outstanding performance over the three days showcased the strength of IACT’s industry-ready training model. Their dedication, enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated the potential of young communication practitioners who have been nurtured through hands-on, real-world education.
A Continuing Partnership for Impactful Learning
Since the launch of PRactitioners Malaysia in July 2024 (an event we proudly co-organised in conjunction with World Public Relations Day) our students have continued to benefit from opportunities that bridge academia and the professional PR landscape. Their involvement in the Global Public Relations Conference and Festival 2025 is yet another example of how our partnerships help create meaningful pathways for our students.
Looking Ahead
We, at IACT College, extend our heartfelt appreciation to PRactitioners Malaysia for giving our students the platform to learn, contribute and shine at an event of this calibre. We look forward to strengthening this collaboration and creating even more transformative industry experiences for our students in the years to come.
