IACT Convocation: Celebrating The Graduating Class of 2022

Last Saturday, on June 11th, IACT College held their annual Convocation ceremony for the graduating class of 2022! It was a joyous occasion that celebrated their students’ achievements and reunited lecturers and classmates after the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was also the College’s first physical event after two years!

Joined by their proud parents and siblings, 302 graduates were present at the Sime Darby Convention Centre to receive their scrolls.

This time around, generous sponsorships poured in from several universities and institutions namely, Brickfields Asia College, University of Sunderland, University of Canberra, University of Gloucestershire, Sheffield Hallam University, Birmingham City University, University of Derby, Shopper 360 Sdn Bhd, Panasonic (Lumix) and World Zone M&E.
These sponsorships enabled IACT College to present Academic Excellence Awards to top students in their respective schools!

Nur Adreanna binti Azmi received the IACT College Chairman Top Student 2022 Award and Nur Diyanah binti Poedjo took home the prestigious IACT College Valedictorian 2022 Award.

Raja Singham, Managing Director of the BAC Education Group, in his address, reminded the graduates to live meaningful lives.

Filled with hope, Raja encouraged,
“Learn to lead with vision and humility. As you climb that ladder of success, keep in mind modesty and integrity, demonstrating the values you have nurtured during your time at IACT - creativity, innovation, kindness, compassion and respect for diversity and human dignity”.

Timothy Chan, Head of Academics at IACT College, thanked the parents for their trust,

“Your support has meant a lot to our graduates and undoubtedly is the foundation and cornerstone of their success today,” he added.

This year’s keynote speaker, Mr Andreas Vogiatzakis, the founder of AMVPlus, shared with the audience his years in advertising, an interest he co-incidentally developed while pursuing his first passion, Mathematics.
Mr Andreas, who was the first non-Malaysian Group CEO of Star Media Group, imparted some wisdom to the graduates, as they take their first steps into the world of work,

“As we live in an era of perpetual change, remember that to succeed, you will need two qualities: character, and strength. Character is personal, doing the right thing even when no one is looking. Strength is collective. Like a bundle of chopstick. You can break one but not a bundle. So, create collaborations, partnerships, connections, a web that can support you as you will support it. Create it. Nurture it. Grow it.”

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sunderland recorded a special congratulatory message to the graduates which added an extra bit of grandeur to the convocation ceremony.

Mr Lee Hall, Head of School, Media & Communications in the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries at University of Sunderland was present to hand out the scrolls to the graduates.

IACT College’s Convocation ceremony was an incredibly significant occasion, filled with a myriad of emotions - joy, triumph, pride, and a sense of melancholy as the graduates close this chapter of their lives.

To the graduating class of 2022, our heartiest congratulations! We will always be cheering you on.
