IACT Students Win Big In Short Video Competition

IACT's Diploma in Mass Communication students once again did the college proud!

This time round, students from the Idea Conceptualization class won 2nd and 3rd place in the Terengganu Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Short Video Competition.

The two short films, submitted for this competition, came under the guidance and supervision of Ms. Ain’ Syafiqah, the lecturer of Idea Conceptualization, one of the modules under the School of Media Production, where the learning outcome is based on visual production.

Every semester, Idea Conceptualization focuses on different topics related to current news or trends. The topic for this semester was SCAM.

"The nature of our production is to feed society with quality visuals and relevant content by collaboration or joining a competition."

The two short films produced by these IACT students perfectly fit the requirement of the competition:“Scammer”, befitting the theme of the event “Hari Bersama Pelanggan Dan Seminar Memperkasakan Pengguna”, which was officiated by Yang Berhormat Mulia Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja, the Terengganu State Secretary at Wisma Darul Iman.

The two short films that won are:

2nd place: Catherine's Love Story by Team @bluelight.films - Loh Qiao Qing, Tung Zhan Ni, Soong Eason, Angeline, Lydia Chan, Chong Kerwin

3rd place: Skinned by Team 3am Production - Daniel Leo, Caleb Wong, Kok Jun Xian, Reshma, Shaun Fong, James Chu

Both teams won RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.

Catherine’s Love Story is a silent film concept, romanticising a speed love relationship that turns out to be a scam. In this production, students explored and experimented with a vintage look and feel, with this romantic comedy taking a plot twist at the end - love scam.

Skinned on the other hand, revolves around a Gen Z that easily trusts online gaming. His vulnerability caused him to be a victim of online scamming through gaming.

Kudos and congratulations once again to our winners!!

Here's to many more wins!
