Jasmine Wong, a BAC Alumni and rising legal star has been surprising, impressing and surpassing any and all expectations with her hard work, dedication, determination and pure legal eagle grit.

A Career Built on Mindset and Purpose

When Jasmine transitioned from private practice to an in-house legal role, she didn’t just change her job description - she redefined her entire approach to law. No longer measured by billable hours or courtroom wins, Jasmine’s value as an in-house counsel came from her ability to influence business strategy, navigate complex legal landscapes, and bring a proactive mindset to the table.

“I didn’t want to simply react to legal issues... I wanted a seat at the table - to be a business enabler with a legal lens.”

This intentional positioning, combined with the trust and autonomy granted by her superiors, allowed Jasmine to flourish. She led with vision, treated each challenge as a growth opportunity, and committed herself to building trust with stakeholders across the organisation.

Facing Challenges with Resilience

Jasmine’s journey was not without its challenges. Moving in-house meant redefining her identity as a lawyer, learning to communicate legal advice in practical terms, and demonstrating her value in an environment where legal work is often invisible. Visibility and influence had to be earned, not assumed.

“I invested time in understanding the business, in building credibility, and in staying anchored to the belief that my role wasn’t just to manage risk—but to help the business grow responsibly and sustainably.”

Her story is one of grit and adaptability, especially in an industry that often demands certainty in a world filled with grey areas.

Championing Women and Redefining Leadership

As a woman in law, Jasmine brings a unique blend of empathy, flexibility, and solutions-driven thinking to her role. She’s not only a lawyer—she’s a mentor, a culture shaper, and an advocate for inclusion.

“Representation matters,” she said, emphasising her responsibility to pave the way for the next generation of women in the legal field. As the President of the Association of Women Lawyers (AWL), she continues to champion gender equality, reform, and mentorship both within and beyond the workplace.

Foundations Forged at BAC

Jasmine credits Brickfields Asia College (BAC) for laying the foundation that shaped her into the lawyer, and leader, she is today. Through its academic rigour and extracurricular involvement, BAC instilled in her not only legal skills but also a sense of purpose, leadership, and service to community.

“It was at BAC that I developed the confidence to lead, to speak up, and to believe that a meaningful legal career could also be one that breaks barriers and uplifts others.”

Looking Ahead

While this award is a milestone, Jasmine views it as a catalyst rather than a conclusion. She remains committed to evolving as a strategic leader, taking on greater challenges, and using her platform to advocate for change.

“This recognition fuels my drive to keep pushing forward,” she said. “I want to contribute to a culture where in-house counsel are seen as true business partners.”

For young women entering the legal profession, her advice is to be bold, stay curious, and define success on their own terms. “Stay true to your values,” she said.

“You belong at the table.”
