Music4Good in Aid of OrphanAid

On Saturday, 3rd May 2025, Horizon Banquet Hall at Menara BAC buzzed with excitement as guests gathered for a concert unlike any other.
Headlined by The Polymaths, the night was more than just a musical experience — it was a powerful celebration of love, humanity, and the beauty of second chances. Friends, families, and changemakers came together not only to enjoy an unforgettable performance, but to support a meaningful cause: OrphanAid, a nation-building initiative by the BAC Education Group and Uplift, in collaboration with Rotary District 3300 Malaysia.
Their mission? To ensure that no child is left behind, that every orphaned and underprivileged child, regardless of circumstance, is given access to the education, care, and dignity they deserve. And on this night, through music and community, that mission came alive.
One of the most heartfelt moments of the evening unfolded just before the concert began.
Raja Singham, Managing Director and Chief Future Officer of BAC Education, stepped onto the stage and shared how every single donation was creating real, tangible impact. He announced which children’s home each table was supporting, and listed the essential items their generosity had made possible - from bags of rice, cooking oil, and groceries, to water heaters, refrigerators, rice cookers, stoves, and more.
As he spoke, a hush fell over the room. It was a powerful moment of collective realisation - that simply by being there, each guest was changing lives.
This was made possible not just by the kindness of those in attendance, but also through the incredible support of our partners, Sen Heng Elite SS2 PJ and Mydin Malaysia, who went above and beyond to stretch every ringgit and maximise the impact of every gift.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of supporters, over RM135,000 was raised through table contributions and heartfelt donations, and 100% of the funds was used to support 25 orphan homes across the Klang Valley.
A Team Effort That Transformed Lives
What made Music4Good truly extraordinary was the incredible show of unity and diversity behind the scenes.
In the days leading up to the event, staff volunteers from the BAC Education Group (from the facilities team helping with logistics, to the teams at Human Resources and Uplift coordinating) came together to make a difference. Braving the heat and the traffic, they made sure that every box, every bag, and every smile reached exactly where it was needed most.
They came together not as individual departments, but as one united family - packing, lifting, driving, and delivering every item with care and compassion.
"It was such a meaningful experience. It reminded me of why these efforts matter so much, and I honestly felt proud to be part of something so impactful."
“I am truly grateful for this opportunity. It was a fulfilling experience that reminded me of how fortunate we are and how much we can give back. This journey has left a lasting impact on my heart.”
“It was heartwarming to see the smiles on the children's faces and to know that our small efforts made a difference in their daily lives. This initiative reminded me of the power of community and compassion.”
Who are The Polymaths?
It all started at a friend’s party when Raja Singham crossed paths with drummer Siva Ramanathan. One casual conversation about music turned into jam sessions in a basement, because why not? They were both lifelong music lovers itching to bring the fun back. “We just needed a guitarist, a bassist… and a better keyboardist,” Raja Singham joked, “because I like running around on stage too much to stay seated!”
- Sudesh Kumar Nair: bassist and CEO of Baycom Malaysia, with formidable expertise experience in film, TV, and satellite communications.
- Sundara Raj Ramamurthy: the guitarist and Chief Digital Officer at PwC Malaysia and Vietnam where he masterminds AI, digital strategy, and transformation.
- Siva Ramanathan: the band’s dynamic drummer, draws from a storied career spanning AirAsiaX to Partner, Chief Growth & Corporate Officer at Ksher, where he now leads cross-border fintech innovations.
- Azlan Ahmad Shaharbi: on the keyboard, is a seasoned performer with over 30 years in the local and global music scene, having played with legends across Asia.
- Raja Singham: lead vocalist and co-founder of BAC Education Group, is not just an educator and changemaker - he’s the driving force behind social impact movements like Uplift, the Make It Right Movement, and SPMFlix (Malaysia’s largest free online SPM tuition portal).
- Alisha Raja Singham: Raja’s daughter and fellow vocalist, adds a new generation of spirit and soul to the lineup, her powerful voice capturing hearts and minds.
Here's What You Missed
The setlist was a joyful journey through time, stirring nostalgia and pure delight. The crowd couldn't help but move to the infectious grooves of Play That Funky Music, Superstition, Stand by Me, Every Breath You Take, the soul-stirring medley of classics by The Beatles, and more. It was the kind of music that brought generations together - feet tapping, hips swaying, and hearts wide open.
And just when it felt like the night couldn’t get any more magical, a hush fell over the crowd. Alisha Raja Singham took the stage and delivered a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Radiohead’s Creep, Bruno Mars’ Talking to the Moon and Lenny Kravitz’s It Ain’t Over ’Til It’s Over.
Another true polymath who lit up the evening was Kumar Nagalingam, affectionately known as The Lawful Artist. Head of HRD Academy, a law graduate and a passionate artist, Kumar brought a different kind of magic to Music4Good through colour, texture, and canvas. His vibrant, thought-provoking artworks were on display throughout the night, each piece telling a story of resilience, emotion, and humanity. In a generous act of solidarity, 50% of all proceeds from the sale of his art was directed to OrphanAid, proving that art, like music, can be a powerful force for change.
The night was made even more special with guest appearances by two incredible talents, Edwin Nathaniel (founder of the renowned Aseana Percussion Unit) and Lathah, who added depth and richness to the evening’s musical journey.
The band amped up the energy one last time before handing it over to the DJ, firing up the crowd with high-energy renditions of La Bamba and Mony Mony. BAC Education's resident deejay, DJ Josh then took over and kept the party alive, spinning tracks from across the decades that had everyone on their feet.
Music4Good in aid of OrphanAid was a celebration of possibility. A reminder that when people come together, whether to sing, dance, give, or simply care, real change happens. And it’s only the beginning. To everyone who came, donated, and grooved: thank you! Because of you, joy reached places where it was needed most. And because of you, OrphanAid continues its vital mission - to give every child the chance at a brighter, better tomorrow.
Stay tuned — The Polymaths will be back, and you won’t want to miss what’s coming next!
