So, where can you start?

If you would like to begin a career in the hospitality industry, you can consider enrolling for a Foundation in Hospitality.

Usually a one-year preparatory course, this is a comprehensive programme designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a degree in hospitality, tourism, event management and its related fields.

Having a solid foundation in this field of study prepares you to venture into the different fields of specialisation, and upon completion, you will have the option of pursuing your undergraduate studies.

The Foundation in Hospitality is specifically designed for students like you seeking fast-track entry into a degree in hospitality, tourism, and events management.

Completing this stimulating foundation year will instill subject-specific cognitive abilities and industry-relevant skill sets, that will surely give you an edge whilst pursuing your degree.

Laying this solid foundation will firmly facilitate heightened success in fulfilling your future educational and career aspirations, and you will now have a general overview of the industry itself, covering Food and Beverage, Hotel Management, Tourism Management, Culinary Arts and Event Management.

What exactly can you do with a Foundation in Hospitality?

After completing your Foundation in Hospitality, you may choose to immerse yourself with industry exposure and experience, as you seek job opportunities in the relevant sectors to help you hone your skills and nurture your understanding before you proceed to pursue your Degree.

However, if a Foundation is not what you plan to do, perhaps a Diploma in this field entices you?

When you decide to undertake Diploma studies, you are assured of gaining unparallel insights into the chosen field of studies.

Both the Foundation and Diploma are considered entry level programmes.

For example, a Diploma which usually takes 2 years to complete, is a higher qualification, compared to a Foundation, and is viewed as equivalent to a first-year degree at university. In comparison, the Foundation, is only a one-year long programme that allows you to smoothly transition into a Degree.

Reliance College offers three Diplomas that you can opt to study – the Diploma in Hotel & Tourism Management, Diploma in Event Management and the Diploma in Business Management

If you wish to enter the work force quickly, a higher qualification is generally preferred, however this does not in any way mean that a Diploma is superior to a Foundation.

Both qualifications chart different study pathways.
If you would like to know more about the different Diploma programmes offered by Reliance College, talk to us.
