Superman Charity Screening: BAC and Visaghan Unite to Support Hospis Malaysia

You don’t always need a cape to be a hero. This month, a group of passionate Malaysians, led by youth activist Visaghan Shanta Mohan and his brother Pranava, with the support of Brickfields Asia College (BAC), transformed the excitement of a blockbuster movie into a meaningful fundraiser for Hospis Malaysia.
A Heroic Screening for a Worthy Cause
On Saturday, 12 July 2025, fans of the Man of Steel watched a charity screening of the new Superman movie at TGV Jaya Shopping Centre. More than just a cinematic event, this initiative was part of The Ripple Effect 5.0, an ongoing series of fundraisers spearheaded by the brothers to raise awareness and support for palliative care services in Malaysia.
Tickets were priced at RM100, with proceeds from each ticket going directly to Hospis Malaysia to help them continue offering free community palliative care to those in need.
BAC’s Super Support
True to its mission of building a better nation, BAC came on board as a key partner in this initiative, helping to amplify the brothers' efforts and mobilise more support for Hospis Malaysia. Through outreach, coordination and resources, BAC supported the event’s success while inspiring students and attendees to get involved in meaningful causes.
This is not BAC’s first foray into social impact. The college has long supported community outreach programmes through its Make It Right Movement (MIRM) along with UPLIFT. This latest collaboration reinforces its commitment to health equity and youth-led change.
The Ripple Effect Lives On
This screening is just the latest in a long line of efforts by Visaghan, who began raising funds for Hospis Malaysia in 2019 when he was just a teenager. His earlier campaigns raised over RM20,000, setting the stage for even larger contributions through events like The Ripple Effect 3.0 and now, 5.0.
Why It Matters
Palliative care remains a critical but often overlooked part of Malaysia’s healthcare system. Less than 10% of those in need currently have access to such services. By combining entertainment with empathy, this campaign aims to change that.
As Visaghan puts it: “You don’t need powers to make an impact—just a heart willing to help.”
