The Diya of Hope by WLRC – A Story of Light and Unity

The Diya of Hope Candle Lighting Ceremony was a meaningful initiative organised by the BAC Women’s Legal Rights Club (WLRC) to inspire awareness, solidarity and support for women facing injustice. Through small donations, participants sponsored diyas (candles), each symbolising a pledge of hope and commitment to justice. The diyas were collectively lit to form a visual representation of the scales of justice, reflecting unity in the fight against inequality.

In addition to the lighting ceremony, the event featured a DIY Diya Station, allowing participants to decorate their own diyas and a Henna Booth, celebrating culture and artistic expression. The initiative aimed to combine reflection, creativity and advocacy to remind the community that even small acts of kindness and solidarity can spark meaningful change.

The event received an overwhelming response, with attendance exceeding expectations by more than double. The high level of engagement from students and staff reflected strong support for the cause and a shared sense of solidarity within the community.

The WLRC team demonstrated outstanding teamwork and coordination across all departments. Volunteers were punctual, enthusiastic, and proactive, ensuring that each booth operated smoothly and efficiently. The vibrant traditional attire worn by participants further enhanced the festive and welcoming atmosphere.

Overall, the event successfully achieved its objectives of spreading awareness and positivity, while showcasing the unity, collaboration, and collective spirit that define the WLRC.
