UNIMY Student Empowers Seniors Through CapCut Workshop
August 11th was an incredibly important month for Al Assme Osama, a UNIMY student and former Student Representative Council (SRC) President wholed an inspiring “Video Editing for Beginners” workshop for senior citizens. The session, held at BAC's flagship campus in Petaling Jaya, gathered around 30 enthusiastic participants eager to explore the creative world of digital storytelling.
Drawing from his experience as a former IT Department intern under Mr. Thillai, Al Assme guided the participants through a practical, hands-on lesson using CapCut, one of today’s most popular and accessible video editing apps.
Throughout the workshop, seniors learned how to trim video clips, add background music, insert captions and text, and apply smooth transitions. All to create short, engaging social media videos. What stood out most was their eagerness to experiment and express themselves through the digital medium.
It was such an amazing initiative that not only empowered participants with valuable tech know-hows but also carried with it UNIMY’s belief in lifelong learning and digital inclusivity to all people. By bringing technology closer to the community, students like Al Assme are proving that the spirit of education extends far beyond the classroom.
This is about sharing knowledge, building confidence, and inspiring creativity across generations and we're not stopping here!
