Veritas University College Celebrates Convocation!

October 15th, 2022 was a day of great joy as the Classes of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 celebrated their academic achievements at Veritas University College's (VUC) convocation ceremony.

More than 150 students, from the Foundation in Arts programme right up to the MBA, gathered at the brand-new Menara BAC to mark the successful completion of their studies. This was the first in-person VUC graduation ceremony since before the pandemic.

This day was made even more special as it was the very first event to be held at our very own state-of-the-art auditorium in Menara BAC! Packed with our graduates' proud families, friends, faculty and staff, the auditorium rang with joy as they cheered their loved ones on.

The ceremony kicked off with the academic procession led by the lecturers and followed by a resounding rendition of Negaraku!

Mr Raja Singham, Co-Founder and Managing Director of the BAC Education Group, had some insightful advice for the graduates.

"Try to live a life where you leave a legacy. Try to live a life where you improve the lives of people around you. Every great individual, whether it's Mother Theresa or Mahatma Gandhi or Nelson Mandela, lived a life with purpose. And my challenge to you is - find yours! If you don't have your purpose yet, at least be the best version of yourself."

Visibly proud, Associate Professor Dr Irene Tan Ai Lian (Vice-Chancellor, VUC) asked the graduates to reflect on what graduation means for them as “the end of something is always the beginning of something new. Take life as it comes. As Charles R. Swindoll said, ‘Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it.’"

"Use the knowledge you have received to improve your family circumstances and to help others who may cross your path one day" she continued. "John Dewey famously said, ‘Education is not preparation for life, it is life itself.’ So, please keep learning and challenging yourselves!"

Valedictorian Vernon Jude Samuel (MBA graduate and General Manager-General Counsel, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia) paid tribute to his lecturers and supervisors, "Here at Veritas, we have received a great education thanks to our lecturers and supervisors. I would also like to thank the administration and backend staff of VUC for their never-ending support to ensure that we had a smooth online learning experience."

He went on to thank his fellow classmates and quipped that he “would miss the WhatsApp messages, the late night group messages, especially closer to our exams.”

The friendships we have made here will definitely last a lifetime. The same way we have supported each other and helped each other succeed in the years at VUC, I hope that we will continue to provide support and encouragement for each other in future endeavours.”
