EXAMINATION STRUCTURE

The Foundation in Arts (ODL) programme is assessed through a combination of continuous assessments, coursework, and final evaluations designed to support flexible online learning.

The programme adopts a structured and balanced assessment approach:

Coursework

Approximately 60% of the assessment consists of individual assignments, presentations, reflective journals, quizzes, and group projects conducted through the online learning platform.

Final Assessments

Around 40% of the assessment is based on end-of-module evaluations, which may include online examinations, written submissions, or timed assessments, depending on the subject.

It is important to note that certain modules are assessed entirely through continuous coursework and project-based evaluations, without a formal final examination, allowing students to demonstrate understanding through applied learning and critical thinking in an online environment.

EXEMPTION AND PROGRESSION PATHWAY

Upon completing the Foundation in Arts (ODL), students may be eligible for exemptions or direct entry into undergraduate programmes.

If you have relevant prior qualifications, you may apply for exemptions in certain foundation modules by submitting academic transcripts, course syllabi, and certificates for evaluation. Eligible qualifications may include:

  • SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) with strong results in relevant subjects
  • O-Level qualifications
  • Pre-university diplomas or certificates in arts, humanities, or social sciences

Graduates looking to further their education have progression pathways such as:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or Business
  • Undergraduate programmes in Design, Communication, or Media Studies
  • Other related honours degree programmes offered by BAC or partner universities

In some cases, credit transfer arrangements may allow students to enter undergraduate studies with exemptions for specific foundation modules, providing a smooth transition to advanced specialisation in their chosen field of study.
