Crafting Your Legal Edge: Inside BAC’s CV Workshop That Transformed Student Profiles. What does it take to stand out in the competitive legal industry?

For students at BAC, the answer came to life in an engaging, hands-on CV workshop designed to turn uncertainty into confidence on 15th April at BAC PJ flagship campus.

This event was not  just a lecture space, it transformed into a hub of ideas, ambition, and practical learning, led by guest speaker Vince Chong from Vince Chong Partnership. The session was not just about writing CV; it was about understanding how to present oneself as a future legal professional.

From the outset, the workshop struck a balance between theory and application. Participants were guided through the anatomy of a strong legal CV, learning how to structure their information with clarity and purpose. More importantly, they were shown how to highlight relevant experiences, whether academic achievements, internships, or extracurricular activities, in a way that resonates with legal employers.

One of the most impactful elements of the session was the comparison between effective and poorly constructed CVs. This side-by-side analysis gave participants a clearer sense of what works and what doesn’t, helping them identify the subtle yet crucial differences that can make or break a first impression.

The workshop also tackled common pitfalls head-on. From inconsistent formatting to the inclusion of irrelevant details, the participants were made aware of mistakes that often go unnoticed but can significantly weaken a CV. By understanding these errors, participants are now better equipped to avoid them in their own applications.

What truly sets this workshop apart was its interactive nature. Participants not only listened, but they also actively participated too. The hands-on segment allowed them to review and refine their own CVs using the techniques shared. Coupled with an engaging Q&A session, participants had the opportunity to gain real-world insights, ask meaningful questions, and build confidence in presenting themselves professionally.

Ultimately, the purpose of the workshop was clear: to bridge the gap between academic life and professional expectations. For many participants who attended, from Foundation to CLP levels, this session provided clarity on how to translate their experiences into compelling narratives that appeal to legal employers.

As the session ended, one thing was evident: participants didn’t just leave with better CVs, they left with a stronger sense of direction. They have learned, in the journey toward a legal career, a well-crafted CV isn’t just a document, it’s your first argument, your first impression, and your first step into the profession.
