Course Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the Senate; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, and not meeting CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to an internal assessment; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a relevant field

Assessment in the MEd programme includes both formative and summative evaluations. Most courses allocate 60% to assignments and 40% to the final exam. However, some courses are entirely assignment-based, with no final examination (100% coursework).

How are the Master of Education (ODL) lectures conducted?

Lectures are delivered online through live sessions on Zoom on two Saturdays per course, totaling 12 hours. Attendance is not mandatory, as all lectures will be recorded and uploaded to the LMS for later access.

Can international students enroll in the postgraduate Master in Education?

Yes. International students can enroll. While you may need to adjust your schedule for live sessions (Malaysia Time), attendance is flexible. We recommend keeping your instructor informed of your time zone to ensure smooth communication.

What academic support is available for ODL students?

If you require clarification on lectures or coursework, you have four direct support channels:

Is VUC Malaysia's Master of Education MQA accredited?

Yes, the MEd programme is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and officially recognized by the Malaysian government.

Can I apply for the Master of Education without a Bachelor's Degree?

Yes, you may still qualify for the Master of Education programme through APEL A entry if you are a Malaysian and meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a Malaysian and at least 30 years old.
  • Must have relevant work experience in education.

Requires one of the following educational qualifications:

  • STPM / Recognized Diploma
  • Matriculation / Foundation (minimum 50-52 credits, CGPA 2.00+, at least 1 year)
  • A-Level (minimum 3 courses with at least grade E, at least 18 months)
  • International Baccalaureate (minimum 6 courses, 24 points, at least 2 years)

Must pass the APEL Assessment, which includes:

  • Aptitude Test
  • Portfolio Submission
  • Interview (conducted by Veritas University College)

How many credit hours and courses do I need to complete for the MEd education programme?

The Master of Education (MEd) program consists of 40 credit hours in 2 semesters per year.

In the 1st year, you will be enrolled in 3 courses per semester. In the 2nd year, you may take either 2 or 3 courses, depending on your chosen option.
