About The Bachelor Degree of Cyber Security
Course Entry Requirements
You qualify with ANY of the following:
- STPM: Min Grade C in TWO subjects; OR
- STAM: Min Jayyid in TWO subjects; OR
- Matriculation/Foundation: Min CGPA 2.00; OR
- Diploma (Non-Computing): CGPA 2.75 (2.50-2.74 with rigorous assessment); OR
- Diploma in Computing (MQF Level 4): Min CGPA 2.50 (2.00-2.49 with assessment); OR
- DKM / DVM / DLKM in Computing: Min CGPA 2.50
AND
- A credit in Mathematics (SPM) or equivalent (or reinforcement Mathematics required in first semester)
- Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government are accepted.
- English Requirements
- MUET Band 3.5, or
- Equivalent to CEFR High B1
Students who do not meet the requirement must take English proficiency courses.
Programme Fees

Examination structure
The Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber Security) with Honours combines written exams, practical assessments, coursework, and industry-based projects.
The programme adopts a comprehensive assessment structure:
Coursework: 40% of the evaluation includes assignments, quizzes, and group projects.
Final Examinations: 30% of the evaluation, applicable mainly to theory-based subjects.
Practical Assessments & Labs: 30% of the evaluation focuses on hands-on exercises, lab work, cyber simulations, and practical demonstrations in network security, ethical hacking, and digital forensics.
It is important to note that some practical modules, such as penetration testing labs or digital forensics exercises, are assessed entirely through performance-based evaluations without a formal theory examination.
Exemption and Progression Pathway
If you possess prior academic qualifications or relevant professional experience, you may apply for credit exemptions in accordance with the University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (UNIMY) Credit Transfer Policy. Every application undergoes a rigorous, case-by-case evaluation by our academic committee upon the submission of certified transcripts and detailed course outlines.
In some institutions, credit transfer arrangements may allow graduates to enter postgraduate studies with exemptions, providing a smooth transition to advanced specialisation in cyber security.
A Bachelor’s degree with the following conditions:
- a bachelor's degree in the field or related fields with first-class (CGPA of 3.67 or higher) or its equivalent from an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme;
- undergo internal assessment; and
- any other requirements of UNIMY.
Bachelor’s degree candidates who are registered for master’s degree programmes may apply to convert to the doctoral degree programmes subjected to the following conditions:
- within 1 year for full time and within 2 years for part-time candidates;
- having shown competency and capability in conducting research at doctoral level through rigorous internal evaluation by the UNIMY; and
- approval of the UNIMY Senate
