Examination Structure

The UKT programme follows a structured assessment format across two years.

In Year 1, assessments include Multiple Choice Questions (10-20%) and Case Notes (10%) in Semester 1, followed by Coursework (20-60%) and a Final Examination (50%) in Semester 2.

In Year 2, you will  undertake Group Project Work (20%) and Multiple Choice Questions (20%) in Semester 1, with Coursework (40%) and Final Examinations (40-60%) in Semester 2.

These assessments align with common evaluation methods in the UK, as well as those found in the UK Bar and CLP. You will  have the opportunity to resit all assessments.

Exemption and Progression

To practice law in Malaysia, graduates must complete either the UK Bar or the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP). After obtaining one of these qualifications, they must undergo a 9-month pupillage or chambering period before being called to the Malaysian Bar, granting them the right of audience in Malaysian courts.

For those seeking further academic or professional advancement, BAC offers pathways such as the Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Corporate Law and Governance (MCLG), and Master of Business Administration (MBA). Other options, including the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP) and the Professional Diploma in International Arbitration (PDIA), allow graduates to enhance their legal expertise and expand career opportunities in various sectors.

What are the features of the UK Transfer progression at BAC?

The UK Transfer Programme allows you to complete a 1+2 or 2+1 pathway at BAC before finishing you law degree at one of 16 UK partner universities.

If you start Year 1 in January, April, or September, you will progress to Year 2 in January or September, and transfer to the UK for Year 3 in September.

BAC partners with 16 UK universities, all recognised by the LPQB for legal practice in Malaysia. How do I progress to the UK and choose a specific university?

You can transfer to one of BAC’s 16 UK partner universities based on key factors. The UK Education Fair, held in March and November, allows direct interaction with university representatives. How is the UKT different from the UOL programme?

Both programmes offer differentiation in terms of cost and educational experience. The UOL programme will be completed entirely in Malaysia and the UK Transfer programme offers you the opportunity to complete their degree in the UK from one of our UK partners. Both programmes however, have a minimum duration of 3 years to complete.

Are all the UK partners recognised with the Legal Profession Qualifying Board?
